That contradiction is the actual hook. You're not just chasing a monster girl for the obvious reasons, you're trying to work out whether the whispers about her are superstition or an accurate description of what's swimming beneath the surface. The tide, the legends, and your own growing obsession all point in different directions.

Day to day, you explore the village and coastline point-and-click style, talking to the same handful of people until their stories start contradicting themselves, and following the pull back to the water whenever the game lets you. It's a small sandbox built around curiosity and compulsion rather than open freedom, with the horror creeping in around the edges of what's otherwise a slow, sun-drenched setup.
