Eiji inherited Hakuyoudou, his late mother's used bookstore, and settled into a quiet, uncertain sort of life until a princess named Lieselotte showed up, kissed him without warning, and announced they were engaged. His childhood friend Ikuno responded by hitting him with raw steak and fish. The whole thing reads like a comedy that keeps escalating rather than a slow burn.

From there the household fills up fast: a trickster trap friend named Kanata, an upperclassman named Kouzaki who clearly isn't what he seems, and a maid, Donnerstag, whose outlook on life is aggressively bleak. Eiji is left running a bookstore and a household while everyone around him has their own agenda for him.

It plays as a visual novel, with Eiji's daily grind at the shop and with his sister Shiori as the anchor while the sudden fiancée and the rest of the cast pull the story toward different outcomes. Choices steer things toward one of several endings rather than a single fixed path, so who Eiji ends up with, and how, depends on where the player pushes the story.
