Summer Salt

A burned-out corporate employee bails on society and rents a cheap place out in Anoyama, planning to sit quietly with his savings until he feels like a person again. Instead he ends up spending his days with three girls on summer break, Tsubasa, Misao and Kaede, and the quiet recovery he had in mind turns into something else entirely.

Alongside the trio is Touko, a widowed cafe owner who has refused every suitor since her husband died, partly because her son wants no part of a replacement father. Watching her son warm up to the protagonist starts to change her mind, right around the time trouble starts brewing for the cafe she runs.

There's no job to grind and no map to clear, the days move through the rural setting and its handful of residents as their attachments to the protagonist deepen, with the story branching toward different endings depending on who he ends up closest to. Voiced scenes carry the key moments rather than menus doing the talking.
