A correspondence course in hypnosis bought with New Year's money turns a friendless, universally disliked student into someone the whole school suddenly can't stop noticing. The technique works fastest on a voluptuous cowgirl-type classmate, and what starts as social climbing curdles into something considerably more dangerous the further you push it.

You spend your New Year's money on the course and start from the bottom of the campus pecking order, using the "mysterious technique" to work your way up while your target slowly falls under your control.
