The setup is simple and mean: your fiancée Suzy is frustrated and lonely from your long hours, and Richard has decades of practice reading exactly that kind of opening. Innocent hugs turn into lingering touches, massages turn into something else, and Suzy keeps telling herself she's just being kind to an old man even as the excuses get thinner.

You read through the story as the protagonist, watching the corruption unfold scene by scene rather than steering it — the tension comes from how slowly and believably it happens, not from choices you make along the way.
