About
Detectives Blake and Won are called in on a murder with no apparent motive, and in Sangrive that's practically a formality, since the official line is that "the most unlikely explanation isn't as weird as reality." The earlier Darkness Falls entries ran like episodes of a series; this one plays more like a two-part special, denser and more self-contained than the usual case-of-the-week structure.
This is the eleventh game set in the Elsaverse, and it leans on that history. It isn't built as an entry point, and the people behind it say as much: if you haven't played the earlier games, at least go through Chasing Beth and Gemini first, or the investigation and its cast will land flat.
You move through the case in point-and-click visual novel fashion, following the detectives as they poke at a killing that resists a normal explanation. The 3D-rendered scenes carry the usual mix of the series' relationships and encounters along the way, but the actual hook here is the murder, not the detour.
