About
Alan knows his way around modern and ancient languages, but pays the bills with a part-time job at a library while trying to finish his life's work. That job puts him in the middle of a string of meetings and situations he has to actually parse, not just stumble through.
The library setup is the frame for an unfolding chain of encounters, and the game asks whether Alan can read them correctly enough to make the right calls for himself. Given the fantasy touches and the range of partners involved, "correctly" is doing a lot of work here.
There's no branching to speak of; you read, you click forward, and the story plays out as a kinetic novel rather than a choice-driven one. The library, and Alan's slow unraveling of everyone in it, is the whole game.
