Virgin Soil

A country girl leaves home and finds the world doesn't care much for where she came from. Manor houses, county brothels, and eventually the capital all take their turn with her story, and the tone stays plain about it rather than breathless.

The setup is simple: a peasant background, a journey nobody her class was supposed to take, and a series of places that each ask something different of her before she settles somewhere in the city. It reads less like a fantasy of ascent and more like a series of doors she has to walk through one at a time.

You follow her through these stages as a visual novel, making the choices that decide how much of herself she gives up along the way. The game is explicit about one option in particular: it's built so you can finish the story without her losing her virginity at all, which is an odd thing to advertise and also the point.
