An orphan comes back to his hometown and finds the place quietly wrong, the kind of wrong that doesn't announce itself. The tone stays close to that: a mystery wrapped in small-town routine, with the town itself the thing worth suspecting.

You dig into what's actually happened here while getting pulled into relationships with the women still around, some of them married, none of it especially subtle about it. The city's secret and the romance run side by side rather than as separate tracks.

Right now this is a pilot episode, and by the studio's own admission it might just stay that way if the funding doesn't come through. So treat it as a first look at the mystery rather than a finished one.
