About

A wrong step drops you through the Veil and into a body that isn't yours, in a world you didn't choose. There's no negotiating your way out; only a guardian decides when you've earned the door home, and it is in no hurry.

Each world's guardian is ancient, patient, and immovable, treating your desperation to leave as an opportunity to test you thoroughly before granting anything. Getting home means proving yourself to something that has clearly done this before and enjoys the process.

Play centers on working through each guardian's trials and puzzles, coaxing your way past monster-girl gatekeepers who are in no rush to let you win. Progress unfolds through 2D scenes built on AI-rendered art, with the encounters themselves serving as both obstacle and reward for whichever body you've woken up in this time.

Changelog

v1.4
  • Original Japanese voice acting is being added to the guardians, scene by scene. When you unlock a scene, you now hear her — and you can play it back any time from the gallery.
  • It's rolling out gradually, one guardian at a time. Nefira and Sylvara speak first — their scenes are voiced now — and the rest of the roster follows across the coming updates, so the game keeps gaining voice with every version.
  • A voice slider joins the options panel, separate from music and sound, so you can set the balance exactly how you like it.
  • A note on how it's made: like the artwork, the voices are generated with the help of AI and then hand-curated and edited to fit each guardian. I'd rather say that plainly than pretend otherwise.
  • Two New Guardians
  • Theia, the Oracle of the Sunlit Temple, keeps a marble realm bathed in endless golden light.
  • Vermilia, the Crimson Temptress, rules a realm of low red fire and open hunger.
  • A Journal — Never Lose Track
  • New this version: a per-guardian Journal that lays out exactly what you've earned and what still waits — scenes, bonuses, endings, and videos, ticked off as you unlock them.
  • Reads Right on Mobile
  • The post-trial dialogue could get stuck on smaller screens, hiding the button that carried you onward. That's fixed — the story scrolls cleanly on a phone now, so nothing traps you between scenes.
  • Continuity & Fixes
  • Voice playback now triggers on a scene's first unlock, not only in the gallery — you hear her the moment she gives you the scene.
  • A continuity pass across names, worlds, and small details, brought into line across all twelve guardians.
  • Assorted stability and polish fixes under the hood.
v1.3
  • Two New Guardians
  • Arabella, the Gaslit Aristocrat, keeps an eternal midnight in a manor where the clocks stopped long ago. She never once says what she means — and she expects you to figure it out anyway.
  • Adaeze, Daughter of the Ancient Forest, has never left her sacred grove, yet has seen more of the world through its roots than most travelers see in a lifetime. The bioluminescent rivers brighten when she approves.
  • That brings the roster to ten guardians and eighty trials, each with a full introduction, ending, and world to navigate.
  • The Guardians Remember You Now
  • This is the heart of 1.3. The visual novel is no longer a straight line.
  • Branching dialogue. After each trial, the guardian speaks — and you answer. Every reply is either bold or tender, and she responds in kind.
  • Three endings per guardian. Walk the bold path and one hidden scene opens. Walk the tender path and another. Balance both, and a third — reserved for those the guardian cannot quite categorize — reveals itself.
  • A running history log. Reread every line she has said to you, per guardian, at any time — even mid-scene.
  • Rewritten throughout. Every scene has been rewritten longer and in each guardian's own voice, with auto-advance and adjustable text speed for how you like to read.
  • A New Trial: Gem Swap
  • The old code-breaker has been retired. In its place, Gem Swap — a match-three built for feel: gems fall with weight, matches cascade into combos that multiply your score, and every clear pops with light and sound.
  • The Veil, Reimagined
  • The opening prologue is now a self-playing cinematic — slow drifting camera over the cosmic art, letterboxed, with drifting motes of light and text that arrives line by line.
  • Beyond it, nearly every screen was rebuilt:
  • Character select and the guardian hub now flow as winding paths rather than plain lists.
  • The hub shows your bold/tender balance and a reward track — 18★ for a bonus scene, 24★ for the final scene and its video.
  • The gallery gained a guardian jump-bar for faster browsing.
  • A Continue button on the title drops you straight back where you left off.
  • Smooth fade transitions everywhere.
  • How It Feels to Play
  • The trials hit harder now.
  • Lives are hearts — they shatter when you lose one, and the screen shakes with the hit.
  • The timer is a ring that shifts green to amber to red, with rising ticks in the final seconds and a danger glow on your last heart.
  • "Ready… Go!" before the fast trials, a CLEAR flourish on victory, and a red beat on defeat.
  • Pause anywhere with Esc, full keyboard support, best-score shown per trial, combo streaks, and a Next Trial shortcut after every unlock.
  • Simon now plays real musical notes, and each guardian's world shifts with the time of day.
  • Quality of Life
  • A proper Options panel arrives with separate Music and Sound volume, text-speed control, and — by request — save export and import, so your progress travels with you between devices and updates.
  • Continuity & Fixes
  • Vaelith's world has been reworked from the deep underground into a moonlit Shadow Wood, and every guardian's writing received a continuity pass — names, worlds, and small details brought into line across all ten.
  • The final-scene videos are now seamless looping animations — a brand-new touch. Instead of playing once and freezing on the last frame, each reward now breathes and loops, on and on, the way it always should have.
v1.2
  • Three new guardians
  • Yume — The Dream Weaver. Eight trials in an eternal dream-lit night.
  • Cressida — Mistress of Stolen Years. Sixty-two years in her tower, and she has never shown anyone what you're about to see.
  • Vaelith — The Crimson Shade. Two hundred and forty years in the dark. You are the first she has let see her clearly.
  • Bonus content & video unlocks
  • Earn 18 stars per guardian to unlock a bonus scene
  • Reach 24 stars to unlock a final video scene
  • All 8 released guardians now have both
  • Star system
  • Trials now award 1–3 stars based on performance. Stars accumulate per guardian and gate the bonus content.
  • Replay intro & ending
  • From a guardian's hub you can now replay her opening introduction and ending scene at any time.
  • Save persistence
  • Progress is now stored in a fixed location — saves will carry over correctly with future updates.
  • Visual refresh
  • New color scheme, full logo on title and character select, redesigned prologue and character intro scenes.
  • Fixes
  • Gallery double scrollbar fixed
  • Character card info display fixed
  • Windows version now launches fullscreen with correct icon
  • Level name overflow resolved
v1.1
  • ✦ Bug Fixes
  • Gallery now correctly displays all previously unlocked images. If your gallery appeared empty after an update, it will restore automatically on next load.
  • Character order in the selection screen and gallery now follows the intended release sequence.
