Humanity's fallen apart outside the walls, so the job is simple: keep the group alive and keep them close. You scavenge for supplies, send your squad into turn-based scraps against zombies and worse, and spend the downtime building relationships with whoever survives the run.

It's a sandbox loop, not a tour through fixed scenes, so how far things go with each companion depends on what you choose to do with your time between fights. Combat funds the relationships, and the relationships are the actual point.
