Malibu: Golden Hours

A 32-year-old college tutor takes an exchange program placement in Malibu and ends up rethinking his whole life over the course of one summer. The tone is sincere rather than winking: this is framed as a story about honesty and self-acceptance, not just a string of hookups.

Living with his host family, he grows close to three women, each working through her own relationship with pleasure and ambition. The visual novel is linear, so you follow one path through his days on the coast rather than branching between them, and the story keeps circling back to a single question: whether to stay in this new life or walk away from it when the summer ends.

Play consists of reading through those golden hours and watching the tutor's bonds with the household deepen, scene by scene, toward whatever choice closes the book on his stay.
