Hunter: Space Pirates

Torn from his mother as a toddler, raised by a foster father who used to fly combat planes, then orphaned again when a bear ends that chapter too, the protagonist finally lands in a foster home run by four women. That's a lot of tragedy to stack on one kid before adolescence even starts, and the game knows it, pivoting fast into the actual point: figuring out who he is through the women around him.

The setup is soap-opera bleak, but the momentum belongs to the household. Each of the four women becomes a separate thread of the protagonist's education in wanting things and asking for them, with the foster-home dynamic doing double duty as backstory and as the engine for every relationship that follows.

Play is dialogue and choice-driven, moving between the women's storylines as the protagonist works out his own desires alongside theirs. It's built for short sessions rather than sprawling systems, so don't expect grinding or stat management to get in the way.
