About
Her friends robbed her blind and vanished, so Hermione goes back to the school she once studied at, and Dumbledore hands her a potion shop instead of a diploma. It's played straight-faced parody, and the setup is funnier for how seriously she takes the debt collectors.
The shop sits in Snape's old laboratory, which is the kind of detail that promises more than a storefront and less than a dungeon crawl. Getting and keeping customers turns out to be the real fight, worse than any bank letter from Gringotts, and Hermione has to work the counter and whatever's hidden in the walls to stay solvent.
The loop is management first: stock the shop, court customers, keep them coming back before the debt collectors do. The corruption and the rest of it grow out of how far she's willing to bend to make rent, not the other way around.
