Isaac spent years avoiding the throne on purpose, choosing carpentry with his father over court politics despite being King Mikhail's nephew. Then Mikhail dies without another heir, and the crown lands on Isaac whether he wants it or not.

There's no room to adjust to the new title. The Dark Territory is already massing for invasion, and a kingdom that never expected this carpenter to rule it now needs him to hold it together, fast, while the people and pressures pulling at him multiply.

You move through the kingdom's map and questlines learning statecraft on the job, working through a main quest alongside side quests and individual storylines tied to the women drawn into Isaac's new life. It plays as ruling badly at first and slowly less badly, with the relationships that form along the way carrying real weight rather than existing as a checklist. The game is upfront that this is meant to read as duty colliding with intimacy, not a straightforward fantasy of having everything handed to you.
