Fog of War

Rex Richards made Delta Force younger than anyone else, earned the callsign "The Unit," and then walked away when the battlefield started eating away at what was left of him. He trades a rifle for a science degree and enrolls at R. Winters Medical University, trying to build a normal life on top of a past that doesn't stay buried easily.

The story follows Rex as he settles into campus life, chases romance, and keeps one eye over his shoulder for the operator he used to be. Whether medical school actually offers him an escape, or just a new arena for the same old violence, is the question the game keeps circling back to.

Play centers on steering Rex through his relationships and choices as a med student with a black-ops resume, with the visual novel structure doing the work of pacing out his new life against the shadow of his old one. Renders carry the cast, and the tone shifts partway through toward something rougher than where it started, matching the source material's own admission that the softer approach didn't hold up.
