A Home Between Us

It's not about success. It's about surviving another day. That line does the heavy lifting here, and the game builds a whole life around it. You play Riku, a guy who gave up his own future the moment his parents died young, pouring his entire youth into raising his little sisters instead of chasing school, friends, or anything resembling a life of his own.

The sisters grew up. They moved out. They didn't look back. What's left is Riku alone in the same cramped apartment, under the same flickering light, eating the same instant noodles, staring at a ceiling he's stopped seeing. The days stop being days. The calendar stopped meaning anything a while ago. It's just routine now, the quiet grind of staying alive with no particular reason to. Then one night, walking home, he runs into a NEET, and that encounter starts pulling the routine apart.

Underneath the mood piece is a working life sim: rent comes due and has to be covered, a job pays out depending on the difficulty you're grinding at, and there's a time-travel mechanic with its own cost attached, so decisions about when to act matter as much as what you do. A hunger and boredom meter runs in the background and needs managing, pills exist for a reason, and yes, there is a rat you can catch. None of it is decoration. It's the same crushing routine the story keeps talking about, just handed to you as something you actually have to manage day by day.
